The impact of grinding beads on the grinding efficiency of the sanding machine is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1, Grinding bead particle size and surface finish

The size of the grinding bead determines the contact point between the grinding bead and the material. The smaller the particle size of the beads in the same volume the more contact points, the higher the theoretical grinding efficiency, but this is relative. When grinding materials with large initial particles, for example, for a 100 micron slurry, smaller particle size beads may not be usable because the impulse of a small bead does not fully grind and disperse the energy. In this case, a bead with a larger particle size should be used.

For the same material, the wear rate is directly proportional to the surface finish of the grinding media, so the surface smoothness of the grinding media is needed to reduce the wear rate. While grinding and pulverizing the material, the grinding beads will also have abrasion, and the abraded grinding beads will be difficult to separate after mixing with the slurry, which will affect the product quality. Therefore, generally speaking, the smoother the surface of the grinding beads, the better.

2、Density and hardness of grinding beads

Usually, the larger the proportion of grinding beads, the larger the impulse, the higher the grinding efficiency, and the larger the wear of the contact parts of the sand mill, so the combination of the viscosity of the slurry and the flow rate becomes critical. Low density grinding beads are suitable for low viscosity slurries and high density grinding beads are suitable for high viscosity slurries. In theory, the higher the hardness, the lower the wear rate of the grinding beads.

3, Grinding bead filling rate on the impact of grinding efficiency

Grinding media filling rate has a direct impact on the grinding efficiency of the sand mill, the greater the filling rate of grinding media, the greater the contact frequency of grinding media, dispersing and grinding capacity also increased in the same grinding time, the smaller the particle size of the product.

After repeated tests, the filling rate of 80% to 85% for the ideal state. When the filling rate exceeds 85%, it will produce the phenomenon of "beads grinding beads", the temperature inside the grinding chamber rises rapidly, and the wear and tear increases sharply.
